The 4 to 20 mA signal measured by the field transmitter is connected to the DCS card; what kind of signal is this 4 to 20 mA signal inside the card? Semi-floating-point digits?
Half-precision or floating-point numbers are both acceptable; the only difference is the number of bits required to represent them as internal digital signals, which in turn affects the amount of storage space needed.
