Which type of flowmeter requires fewer straight sections before and after it? I am working on a project in a space with limited dimensions, and I need to choose a flow meter that does not require high precision – it is sufficient if the required straight sections ahead of and behind it are short.
Basically, it uses a straight front and a straight back! ! ! !
This seems to have little to do with the model of the flow meter; straight pipes before and after the flow meter are necessary to ensure the proper state of the fluid. If the fluid’s state is not maintained, it will be impossible to obtain accurate readings regardless of the type of flow meter used. Since the precision requirements are not high, the straight pipes at the front and back need not be so strictly specified; a float flow meter can also be used on the vertical pipe
When the measurement accuracy requirements are not very high and a straight pipe section is not necessary, a rotameter can meet the owner’s needs. However, the effect of impurities (iron) in the pipeline on the rotor magnets must be considered; generally, a magnet filter is installed before the flow meter. The manufacturer will provide it when purchasing.
10D ahead, 5D behind of the straight pipe section. If conditions permit, 20D in the front and 5D at the back.
I think it also depends on the flow rate being measured; it’s not easy to design rotameters for high flow rates. It seems that the requirements for the straight pipes before and after the electromagnet are relatively low.
In which standard is this requirement specified?
For vortex flowmeters, you can install straightening plates at both the inlet and outlet sides; this helps to reduce or even eliminate the need for a straight pipe section
I can provide flow meters that do not require a straight pipe section and can be connected at bends! However, it can only measure oils, resins, and so on.
