There is an issue with the design pressure of a device, and I would like to seek some advice. Recently, on a project, the design pressure specified for the equipment was given as 0.1–0.26 bar(G). However, according to chemical engineering standards, the design pressure should be a single value, rather than two extreme values for pressure. This device is a tower that operates under negative pressure. According to the specifications, should the design external pressure be specified as 0.75 bar(G)? I would appreciate it if you could give me some guidance
It’s also something I learned recently: the normal operating pressure of a device is generally relatively stable, but during design, various abnormal operating conditions and their impact on the device are taken into account. For example, if the fluid inside the device can only flow in but not out properly, it will cause pressure buildup; If only air can exit and not enter, a negative pressure will be created; therefore, a range is taken into consideration. Similarly, for containers operating under positive pressure, the range of negative pressure is also appropriately considered.

The design pressure for equipment that operates under negative pressure is specified in this manner; for example, the design pressure for distillation towers used in oil processing is generally between -0.1 Mpa and 0.28 Mpa. Especially for large-diameter devices that operate under negative pressure, if their roundness is not good, they can easily be deflated. The highest positive pressure and the lowest negative pressure should be indicated
