The latest design includes a heat transfer oil furnace; the project is located at Tianjin Port, where the lowest temperature in winter is -13.5°C. The supplier recommends using -10# diesel as fuel in winter, and 0# diesel in other seasons. I would like to ask everyone whether we should follow this recommendation? Should we still use 0# diesel, with electric heating for the tank and heat tracing for the pipes? If the suggestion is adopted, will -10# be sufficient? I checked – the cold filter point of -10# diesel is -8°C; will this meet the requirements? Do we still need -20#? Also, does anyone have the saturated vapor pressures of these oil grades at 40°C? This is needed to calculate the net positive suction head of the pump.
Also, is there a TX in petrochemical companies? I would like to ask if 0# diesel is available in the north during winter? If it’s for sale, does the tank truck need to be insulated?
A electric heater will suffice for this. It’s best to use waste materials for heating; there’s no need to worry about this issue, haha
Electric heating is only for the storage tank; the pipes still need to be insulated, right? There’s no waste material involved. It was originally designed to use heavy oil, so it couldn’t pass the environmental impact assessment.
