Currently, the concentrated water from reverse osmosis is usually discarded as water for filter backwashing or for washing coal storage areas. In line with the principles of energy conservation, emission reduction, and improving efficiency, we invite everyone to discuss ideas or application examples for the advanced treatment and reuse of this concentrated water. Meaningful suggestions will be rewarded generously!
Our original design calls for two sets of first-stage and second-stage reverse osmosis systems with a capacity of 100 m³/h; the concentrated water is discharged after passing through a multi-media filter for backwashing; As part of the technical upgrades, an additional set of first-stage two-pass reverse osmosis systems with a capacity of 50 m³/h was installed to further concentrate the concentrated water from the original reverse osmosis process. After nearly a year of operation, the desalination rate was 97.8% and the recovery rate was 61.5%. Current problem: There is still concentrated wastewater that needs to be discharged.
It is normal for reverse osmosis systems to have concentrated water waste; this is inherent in reverse osmosis membrane elements. Whenever reverse osmosis is used, concentrated water is generated, and the amount of such waste can only be reduced by employing multi-stage reverse osmosis processes as well as reverse osmosis for treating the concentrated water. Of course, the concentrated water produced by reverse osmosis can also be used for other purposes, such as landscaping or flushing toilets, among others
