Our company has a condenser; the process medium contains HF and HCl, and the refrigerant is R22. It involves using R22 to cool HCL and HF gases, with R22 being in the shell side and HF and HCL in the tube side. I want to install an online PH monitor at the refrigerant outlet of the condenser. But after checking many companies, none had PH online probes suitable for low temperatures. The R22 outlet temperature is around -45 degrees. That is, if there is a leak in the tubes and HF or HCl leaks into the R22, the pH value of R22 will drop below 7, making it acidic. Is there any good solution? I would like to ask the fellow sailors.
I think that even if it can maintain such a low pH, its lifespan in use would likely be very short. I’m not sure if an in-situ pH meter can be used?
The temperature is too low, making the measurement method unreliable. At the moment, it seems there isn’t any particularly good solution! I’d like to hear an expert’s analysis!
I agree with moderator K’s view; indirect measurement is more ideal
The temperature is too low; even with low-temperature electrodes that can be used on the side, their lifespan is likely to be insufficient. They need to be replaced too frequently. The only solution mentioned earlier is to use a bypass circuit to raise the temperature to around 0+, and then determine the pH value at 40 degrees through calculations
I would like to ask fellow sailors: PH online monitoring instruments are generally used to measure the pH value of water. Can it be used on R22 at room temperature? Could the R22 refrigerant have some impact on the measurements?

Low-temperature measurement can be shifted to the appropriate temperature of the instrument probe; through temperature compensation, the original low-temperature pH value can then be measured. That’s what I think.
