Dear sea friends: Does your company (organization) have spare rotors for its centrifugal compressors? Do you need a backup? Active participation in the discussion is welcome, and all participants will be rewarded.
Our company has 9 centrifugal compressors, with no spare rotors; only the gas blowers come equipped with spares.
There are no spare rotors; only spare units are available. When a failure occurs, the spare unit is brought into use, and repairs are carried out as appropriate depending on the nature of the fault. It is not necessary to have separate spare rotors
There are no spare rotors. Firstly, the cost of rotors is high; secondly, they are difficult to maintain. The main issue is their low failure rate – major repairs are only required every 3 or 4 years. During these repairs, there is ample time to send the units back to the factory for inspection and repair (all our centrifuges are manufactured by Shenyang Blower)
It seems no spare is needed; the probability of the rotor breaking down should be very low, so a spare isn’t necessary
Large centrifugal units do not have backups, but smaller compressors do; for example, centrifugal nitrogen compressors come in a two-in-one-backup configuration, while instrument air compressors are equipped with one unit and one backup. Fans also have backups. It would be great if large units had backups as well, but generally companies do not do this due to economic considerations. But I have seen ones with backup oil coolers as well as other types of coolers; they are usually state-owned enterprises
Generally, for the spare rotor of a centrifugal unit, it depends on the conditions of the unit. 1. High pressure, large flow rate. 2. The rotational speed is high, exceeding 6500 r/min. 3. The unit operates unstably, with vibrations at the edge of being acceptable. 4. The gas and medium in the compressor contain dust or are corrosive. 5. In the above situations, a spare rotor can be requested.

There is no spare rotor; the rotor is not a wear-prone component, so there is no need for a spare one. Either install a complete set of spare units.
The price is too high; it’s not a fragile item, so there’s no need for it
Our unit is equipped with two hydrogen circulation compressors; fortunately, one of them has a rotor available, otherwise it wouldn’t be possible to get it running!
