Is there any current research being conducted on the localization of methanation units in coal-to-natural gas production? How were the results?
The localization of methanation units is not a major issue; the key problem lies with the catalysts
It seems that Nanjing Guochang has developed domestic nickel-based catalysts; it also appears that Hangzhou Linda has done so as well
Generally, those who manufacture catalysts also make reactors. In fact, for these catalytic reactors, in some cases the arrangement of the catalyst can be considered as the form of the reactor.
There should be no issues with the localization of methaneation processes and related equipment. It seems that components such as high-pressure steam superheaters and high-temperature cycle compressors, which were mentioned earlier, have also been localized; the most critical element is however the methaneation catalyst. According to public reports, the Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics has also conducted only a small-scale methanation process test in Yima, Henan; there is still a lack of domestic pilot tests and demonstration projects for methanation in China.
I definitely need to have a good conversation with Teacher Wang next time.
Reply 4# jensse: That’s what was said on floor 4! The development process of catalysts is closely related to the design of reactors! Generally, it is the catalyst that adapts to the reactor; it’s very rare for the reactor to adapt to the catalyst!

The specific manufacturing processes are designed based on the performance of the catalysts, right? What is mentioned here is the structure of the reactor; I think it is still determined by the catalyst. Please offer your advice. .
