A surfactant was synthesized. I checked the analysis methods described in the literature; it involves using an automatic potentiometric titrator for analysis. Does anyone know this instrument? Please give some information! ! ! !
The working principle of an automatic potentiometric titrator is to measure ion concentration by detecting changes in electrode potential. First, select appropriate indicator electrodes and reference electrodes to form a working cell with the solution to be tested, and then add the titrant. During the titration process, chemical reactions occur, causing the concentration of the ion being measured to change continuously, and as a result, the potential of the indicator electrode also changes. Near the titration endpoint, the concentration of the ion being measured changes abruptly, causing a jump in the electrode potential; thus, the titration endpoint can be determined based on this jump in electrode potential, and the measurement result can be obtained.
For domestically produced ordinary potentiometric titrators, the results of the replicate samples are not very good when analysis is carried out to the endpoint; it depends on the parameter being analyzed. They can be used if the requirements are not high, but for higher standards it is recommended to purchase imported models.
Why is there such a big difference between domestic and imported products? Which components are the key ones? ? ? ?
Potentiometry is not very sensitive; when carrying out redox reactions, there is a significant difference between determining the endpoint manually using an indicator and using potentiometry. Domestic models can be purchased for just a few thousand yuan, while imported ones cost over a hundred thousand yuan – so what’s the difference? There might be good ones made in China as well, but I haven’t used them; you might want to ask the supplier again.
For potentiometric titrators, those from Wantong are good. If the price is a concern, then choose Me Teller ones. Even when using domestic models, imported electrodes are necessary; using domestic electrodes increases the likelihood of problems.
