In the wet desulfurization process for water gas, PDS or tannin is generally used as a catalyst, while ammonia water or soda ash is used as the absorbent. Why isn’t a strong base such as NaOH used as the absorbent? What are the problems that arise from using NaOH?
If the CO2 content in the feed gas is very high, can NaOH be added to produce NaCO3 in order to reduce the consumption of NaCO3?
