This post was last edited by clq20040107 on 2011-10-27 at 13:26. During the major maintenance, the activated carbon in the mercury removal units used in the VCM process needs to be replaced. I’m wondering if anyone knows any quick methods or tricks for replacing these mercury removal units
There are few ways to quickly replace the activated carbon in a mercury removal unit; unless you replace it entirely—for example, by filling one unit while keeping another ready as a replacement, which is the simplest method—you have to proceed step by step. Otherwise, issues with the activated carbon filling can lead to mercury entering later stages of the system, making it very difficult to remove it from there
Two units are connected in parallel, with inlet and outlet valves added, allowing them to be used alternately, which has little impact on production.
