The hydrogen gas is treated without a cooler or mist catcher; it is sent directly to the hydrochloric acid production unit via a gas-liquid separator and buffer tank. Is it feasible for the hydrogen gas line leading to the hydrochloric acid plant not to be equipped with heating, and what are the reasons? # + + hcbbs

If no heating is provided, let’s take a look at how well the insulation measures are in place Hydrogen has a high water content, which causes liquid to accumulate in the pipes; this leads to pipe blockages in winter, resulting in unstable hydrogen pressure. In severe cases, this can cause the rectifier to trip, and it also reduces the lifespan of quartz lamp bulbs.

Without adding heat tracing, it is necessary to properly control the outlet temperature of the hydrogen cooler; if this temperature exceeds the specified limit, it will lead to an increase in moisture content in the hydrogen, which can cause the pipelines to freeze in winter.
Logically, hydrogen gas that has been compressed by a compressor should be cooled using a cooling device to remove the gaseous water vapor contained within it, thereby improving the purity of the hydrogen. Doing so not only effectively reduces the water partial pressure in hydrogen, but also prevents the hydrogen from being affected by the environment due to moisture content. However, some plants eliminate these first and second stage coolers as well as the water mist collectors in order to save on equipment costs. After coming out of the scrubber tower, hydrogen enters the compressor for compression, and then proceeds to the hydrogen-water separator and the hydrogen buffer tank. In fact, I think doing this in order to save on equipment costs is not a good idea; it will have an impact on hydrogen, as well as on the hydrochloric acid production process, and it may even pose a risk to human safety.
