Floating-head heat exchangers: BES or AES. They consist of: tube boxes, tube sheets, shell flanges, the shell, tube bundles, etc. The tube sheet consists of end plates, tube sheet flanges, tubes, and tube flanges. The tube bundle is made up of heat exchange tubes, baffle plates, tie rods, spacers, and tube plates. For specific details, one can refer to standards such as GB151 or JBT 4714. The difference between BES and AES lies in the front fixed head; the common types of front fixed heads are A, B, and C. Type B features a circular head (a single-piece end cover). It is a welded type of head box with a simple structure, suitable for relatively clean media. The front covers of the tube banks of types A and C can be removed to facilitate inspection and cleaning of the tube side, but they require more material. Shell type: The common types are E and K. E: single-pass shell; K: kettle-type reboiler. The most commonly used is the E-type single-pass shell. It is the most cost-effective in terms of production. Rear headgear type: Common types include S, M, and U.
In GB151-2014 Heat Exchangers, on page 15 in Tables 6-7, the structural types and codes are listed clearly: A denotes a flat-plate tube box, while B denotes a head-type tube box. . Personally, I think B is more cost-effective. .
Saving money definitely means using option B, but for heat exchangers that require frequent inspection inside the tube bank and for which it is not feasible or possible to install manholes in the tube bank, option A is the only choice left
