Since a new catalyst was just installed, during the recent adjustments to the system’s volume, an abnormal phenomenon has occurred: when adjusting the temperature of the bed layer, the temperatures of the upper and lower layers do not synchronize with the temperature of the middle layer (the upper and lower layers increase in temperature while the middle layer decreases, and vice versa). It takes about 20 minutes for the bed layer temperature to return to normal after such fluctuations. This kind of behavior was not observed before during any adjustments to the volume. We are two-axis two-diameter composite towers; they are quite similar. It is necessary to check whether the distribution of the cold gas flow is balanced, and then consider whether the temperature distribution is reasonable.
Personally, I think it has something to do with the circulation volume; when the circulation volume is high, the unreacted gas is carried to the lower part, causing the lower part to rise while the upper part drops. When the circulation volume is low, the reaction at the upper part is intense and the temperature rises. Recurrent occurrences are caused by frequent adjustments to the circulation volume
