Is epoxy glass flake material used in crude oil storage tanks with high sulfur and acidity levels?
I don’t think so. Glass flake materials are widely used in power plant desulfurization systems; it’s common to find this material on the inner walls of flue ducts and absorption towers. For crude oil storage tanks, epoxy and polyurethane-based antistatic coatings are more commonly used. I used to work in the field of corrosion prevention, so I have some knowledge in this area. The key is to ensure proper pre-treatment of the glass flake surface. If the adhesion between the scales and the resin is poor, it has a significant impact on the penetration rate of the medium. Cracks and pores formed during resin curing can easily lead to capillary penetration. It is now widely used.
