Because the desorption process of rich methanol produces hydrogen, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, hydrogen sulfide, and ammonia. Ammonia is the hardest to desorb, so the methanol-depleted fluid obtained at the end contains only ammonia; therefore it needs to be discharged regularly, usually from the outlet of P6, about three times a week.
