Anti-freezing measures for multi-stage pumps?

During a series of winter shutdowns of the deaeration unit, the following measures were taken to prevent freezing of the multi-stage centrifugal pump: the inlet and outlet valves of the pump were opened to drain the water from within the pump body and its connecting pipelines; the cover of the outlet check valve was removed to release any accumulated liquid above the valve, after which the cover was reinstalled. Close the inlet and outlet valves of the pump, introduce air to the device, and purge the pump casing. From now on, turn the shaft 2-3 times a day. What other anti-freezing measures need to be taken?
Well, the water inside the multi-stage pump may not be completely drained, and if there is freezing outside, it’s likely that ice will form inside the pump as well. Unless there is a discharge port below each intermediate section (diaphragm) of the multi-stage pump.
It can be disassembled if it stops for a long time. But handling it like you are should be fine; a little water won’t damage the equipment.
We generally cover outdoor pumps with rubber and plastic insulation on the outside, in addition to draining clean water when they are not in use during winter.
