Newbie question: Why are most of the pipelines in chemical plants curved? The two devices are clearly quite close to each other, but why does the pipeline connecting them have to take a detour?

If you observe carefully, you will find that under normal operating conditions, pipelines with such a curved design are used to transport media that have a significant temperature difference from room temperature; therefore, this is a thermal compensation design aimed at counteracting the tensile stresses caused by temperature changes.
