There are several types of commonly used gas-liquid separators; what are their respective principles?

In terms of material, common vapor-liquid separators include those made of polypropylene, 316L steel, and ordinary carbon steel. Polypropylene vapor-liquid separators are suitable for applications with high sulfate content, while 316L vapor-liquid separators or those made of polypropylene are preferable in phosphate production. However, in terms of cost-performance, polypropylene vapor-liquid separators have lower strength.

The soda water separators and gas-liquid separators used in steam systems are generally of the swirl type or baffle type; in principle, they all work by causing a sudden change in the direction of the steam flow, thereby separating out the water molecules with a higher specific gravity.
Based on the differences in density, to improve the separation efficiency, it is possible to modify the structure of the separator – for example by adding baffles – so that the liquid particles can aggregate together and be separated more easily.
