Should the gasifier be purged first or oxygen introduced first before ignition?

There are two steps before igniting a gasification furnace: purging and introducing oxygen. It is generally recommended to introduce oxygen first and then purge, but I think it’s better to purge first rather than introduce oxygen first. What do you think?
