How should beginners in mechanical sales approach their work and competition?

The company specializes in the processing and production of chemical industry boiler sheet plates. As its business grew, it expanded its factory facilities and thus hired new employees. I majored in CNC machining and just graduated this year, but I have no knowledge at all in sales. Since the boss has a lot of work to handle, he doesn’t have time to train me; I don’t know what the process is, how to proceed, or how to find customers. It’s so frustrating to just sit around here all day. I hope those who sell it can shed some light on this for me!
