Currently, domestic coal chemical enterprises are facing a trend of being reorganized by larger companies such as coal mining firms and power generation companies, or of forming coal chemical enterprise groups. In light of this situation in the coal chemical industry now and in the near future, should we consider carrying out standardization efforts within these enterprises? This standardization does not refer merely to standardization in management, technology, or work processes; it involves complete standardization on the model of companies like McDonald’s and KFC. Since coal chemical enterprises today have a relatively stable supply of coal, and there are already examples of reorganization, if gasifiers suitable for the type of coal used by their groups can be established, then why not standardize the construction of all chemical enterprises under those groups? Doing so would allow for the saving of many wasted resources and enhance competitiveness; there’s no need for complicated designs, as that only leads to waste in every aspect.
It is difficult for China to establish unified standards, as most Chinese people have a short-sighted perspective, and those in positions of power are not willing to give up their own interests easily. Just like with 3G, China Telecom, China Mobile, and China Unicom all have separate networks of their own, which is a waste of resources.
I agree with what was said on the second floor: it’s very difficult to standardize things in the Chinese style. **Lack of enforcement is one factor, interest conflicts are another, and the overall quality of the nation is yet another factor. In my home, there are several different standards for water faucets; when one of them breaks, I buy a new one only for it to stop working again :( In Japan, on the other hand, it seems that there are unified standards for household plumbing pipes – in times of war, those pipes can be used directly as gun barrels :lol. It shows how much concern their nation has for such issues.
However, standardization within a conglomerate company can still be attempted. Consider a large coal chemical group with a dozen or twenty subsidiaries, all engaged in the production of synthetic ammonia; by upgrading these existing companies and adopting an advanced production process developed through independent research, along with standardized management practices and consistent product quality, it is possible to create a well-known brand. Once such standardization is established, the company will be highly competitive compared to other firms, as production takes place on a large scale, which reduces costs in terms of investment and research efforts. Moreover, having many people working together increases efficiency; since everyone is focused on the same task and there is room for comparison, even if the hardware used isn’t the best, the company will still be able to perform well under these favorable conditions.
