I would like to ask for advice regarding the issue of excessive N content in pure benzene in our plant. Since this is a new plant that has just started operating, I’m seeking suggestions from everyone
If the extractant is NFM, it’s possible that the previous solvent undergoes hydrolysis; the water was not removed thoroughly

If you use N-formylmorpholine, the solvent decomposition can cause the nitrogen content in the product to exceed the specified level; whereas if sulfolane is used, the nitrogen level generally does not exceed the limit. Of course, this also depends on the nitrogen content in the raw materials – if the raw materials contain high levels of nitrogen, pre-treatment is necessary.
Is the hydrogenation of crude benzene harmful to the body?
I suspect it’s a problem with the water in unit 500, but we initially used BT solution to carry the water – will it be fine after operating for a longer time? Please advise

Formylmorpholine leads to N-containing compounds, while sulfolane results in S-containing compounds. Since you mentioned that you have just started using these solvents, the problem is likely not related to solvent hydrolysis or aging; it’s more probably related to the operation procedures – specifically, solvent recovery. It’s necessary to control the solvent recovery tower, lower the temperature at the bottom of the tower, and increase the reflux rate appropriately. Furthermore, check the device valves; heating during operation in winter can increase the pressure in some solvent pipelines, leading to internal leakage of the valves and contamination of the product. Ours is sulfolane; we encountered this issue before and it has now been resolved
