It’s a tragedy – I realized after finishing the drawing that I hadn’t included scales. Is it necessary to include scales in pipe layout drawings?:Q

Drawings are created to guide installation, to assist welders in cutting materials and laying pipes; they must include dimensions or proportions.
The proportions are intended to ensure harmony across the entire drawing; installation or cutting is carried out according to the numbers indicated on the drawing, as dimensions are generally not measured directly on the drawing itself.
The problem is that the original poster only realized there was no scale when trying to add annotations; so how should one annotate a diagram without a scale? Is it by guessing?
