Why has CAD been overtaken by MS in the large chemical engineering design institutes these days?
One reason is that many international projects use MicroStation
Which ones does the original poster mean by those cattle farms?
No way, which department would say they don’t use AUTOCAD?
These days, CAD isn’t really used much for design anymore. I heard from a friend last time that some other software is being used instead; CAD is difficult to learn and use
There is only one reason: MicroStation can be directly connected to the database of PDS 3D models! ! In large-scale chemical projects, the role of PDS is becoming increasingly important; when dealing with foreign projects, model-based work is absolutely essential! ! Therefore, the compound also attaches importance to and develops MS.

As for development issues, PDS is being phased out, and EagleGraph’s replacement product, SP 3D, does not use the MicroStation platform. Furthermore, floor plans are no longer provided in many places, so CAD 3D does not have an advantage.
CAD has replaced hand-drawn drawing boards; on a larger scale, this represents progress in history, and on a smaller scale, it means that MS meets current needs better than CAD
