Help: A four-tube cooler, installed vertically. The main material is cooled, and it enters and exits from the top; so should the refrigerant enter from the top and exit from the bottom, or enter from the bottom and exit from the top? What’s the difference?
What is the specific process for hot and cold media? Is the shell side single-pass or double-pass?
In from above, out from below – the refrigerant and the heat exchange medium must flow in opposite directions; this way, the heat exchange efficiency is higher
This post was last edited by wangtianyi*ao on 2011-11-24 21:24. The heat exchanger has a single shell pass, and the tube side has four tube passes. The tube side carries the main material, while the shell side carries the heat medium.

Heat exchangers are used quite often; whether it’s a refrigerant or a heating medium, both can be considered as mediums for heat exchange. Does the heating medium have to be at a negative temperature? That’s ridiculous – focus on learning your professional knowledge properly
The direction of flow for the refrigerant – in from below and out from above – depends on its properties
