I understand that the main methanol production methods in the northwest region are fixed-bed gas generation and the Texaco process; I’m wondering what proportion each of these two methods accounts for currently? I learned from relevant sources that the cost calculation method is = coal price * 2 + water price * 10 + electricity price * 300 + taxes and fees + labor costs. Could someone help me check whether this calculation method is correct?

Producing one ton of methanol requires less than 2 tons of coal, 6 cubic meters of water, and less than 300 units of electricity. But other gases, like oxygen and nitrogen. So this formula can roughly represent it, right?

For large-scale coal-to-methanol plants, the electricity and water consumption should be lower. In plants located in the western region, the electricity usage is around 250 kWh, and the water consumption is about 8 tons.

Typically, the raw coal is considered to be 70% of the total, with a calorific value of over 6300 kcal per unit, and a carbon content of over 70%. While thermal coal is generally calculated at 5,500 kcal. Coal can also be converted to standard coal for calculation; the comprehensive energy consumption for large-scale gasification to produce methanol is approximately 52 GJ per ton of methanol, which is equivalent to about 1.776 tons of standard coal.

Currently, the fixed-bed reactors are mainly those from the original hydroxyalkane production plants; there are probably few new ones, and methanol’s share must be very small.

The cost of coal-based methanol will not exceed 1,400 yuan per ton, but it is sold at around 3,000 yuan per ton,....................
