What conditions are generally required for the design calculations of oil collection tanks? Are there any relevant design manuals? Is the area of the vent pipe on the oil collection tank similar to the opening ratio of the upper tray? Is the overflow weir height equal to the liquid discharge volume divided by the liquid holding area?
The area of the vent pipe on the oil collection tank is usually set at 15–25% of the cross-sectional area of the tower; this value depends mainly on the gas velocity, and it is generally larger than the opening ratio of the upper tray.
Reply 2# maplecity: The area of the vent pipe is 1.2 times the opening ratio of the upper tray, and the height of the overflow weir = volume of liquid below / area of the liquid receiving zone; I wonder if that’s the case? No relevant design manuals have been found yet; this is all the information I could gather!
I’m doing maintenance work and removing the tray; I see that the oil collection tank is fully welded, and it’s not possible to get inside the lower tray – it’s blocked. Could someone with more experience give me some advice?
Generally, to prevent leaks, oil collection tanks are fully welded, but holes must be made at the top and bottom for easy maintenance
I’ve learned about whether the oil collection tank is emptied, whether it’s emptied completely or partially; how to determine the height of the weir; what proportion of the tower’s diameter is occupied by the lift pipes; and what is the diameter of each lift pipe? ? All sorts of issues – is there a design manual or some standards or something like that?
