Some devices (on the top) are equipped with exhaust vents. What is the purpose of these exhaust vents? I understand its function to be: 1. To expel the gas inside the device in the case of a gaseous medium. 2. For liquid media, it serves to prevent the equipment from collapsing when emptied. Right? I’m seeking advice from everyone.

The spherical tank seems to have no vent holes; then how does the air get out once the medium enters?
