Recently, my boss told me to focus on polysilicon produced by metallurgical methods in the future; earlier I also learned about high-purity alumina under the guidance of a senior colleague. Now I’m a bit confused and don’t know which direction to choose for my PhD studies, nor do I know which schools are better. Let’s discuss this – I’d like to learn too* study *. Thank you!
I recommend the metallurgical method for polysilicon; it is sufficient for solar-grade polysilicon (compared to the Siemens method), achieving a purity of 5–6N. Although the market is currently sluggish, in the long term there will still be a high demand for polysilicon, and costs will continue to fall. Once the profits from the Siemens process are reduced to a certain level, lower-cost metallurgical methods will gain an advantage.

It’s better to study multiphase flow; for example, there are professors at Zhejiang University, Tianjin University, Tsinghua University, and East China University of Science and Technology who work on topics related to fluidized beds. However, it’s difficult to publish papers on multiphase flow, and those who focus on this area face challenges in completing their doctoral studies
