Regarding the fire sprinklers on the loading platform

Dear colleagues, according to our **standards, it is not mandatory to install sprinklers at the loading stations for petrochemical products. However, many foreign companies mention in their safety assessments the need to install fire sprinklers at these loading areas, mainly due to the high risk of fire during the loading and unloading process. Indeed, high concentrations of flammable and explosive gases are present in this area during loading, and even a small spark – such as from static discharge or collisions between metal objects – can trigger a fire. Yet, based on the experts’ advice during the design process, sprinklers are not suitable for use in open spaces like loading areas, as they cannot provide adequate coverage. Moreover, using water-based sprinklers is ineffective for extinguishing many petrochemical products, as it can instead cause the fire to spread. I hope to hear everyone’s opinions – are there any better ways for the fire sprinklers on the loading platform?
