People discuss whether process engineers or equipment engineers are more tired and stressed in a production facility; personally, I think process engineers are more tired and should therefore receive a slightly higher bonus factor. Personal opinion only, no personal attacks.
In production facilities, production is the core, and emphasis should be placed on process engineers; During maintenance, emphasis should be placed on equipment engineers. If the gap isn’t large, it’s better to be equal; otherwise, there will be disharmony.

It always seems that the two have different roles, so there isn’t much to compare them on. There are only rough differences between individuals in terms of being good or bad, smart or stupid. If you truly put your heart into it, there will always be plenty to do, but you won’t feel constantly exhausted. When there are bottleneck issues, one feels a great deal of pressure. A good process and equipment engineer focuses on reducing the workload associated with the job, improving product quality, enhancing system stability, and cutting down consumption; at the same time, he also strives to minimize his own workload. When forced to do hard labor due to lack of options or means, one does not take the initiative to complain to others, as it is considered a shameful thing. It’s best to let others judge between sorrow and joy. With a relatively mature and stable production line, neither role is very demanding; most of the work involves tasks that don’t require much mental effort, such as collecting, organizing, and analyzing data. During the construction phase, more effort must be put into the piping equipment; otherwise, problems will arise later on. During the trial production phase, more effort is required for pipe processing, and you are responsible for determining the process parameters. When problems arise, their close cooperation helps identify the root causes and find solutions with minimal costs. When one cannot rely on teammates, those in charge of equipment must learn the *techniques, and vice versa. Aside: I’ve worked with electricity, equipment, and processes. Interestingly, the overall business environment means that process technology is given the highest priority, equipment comes next, and electrical systems are at the bottom of the list. Since it is a mature process, with a dry-process approach, there’s no need to worry about being called at night to carry out emergency repairs. . . Personally, I think the equipment-related work is more demanding. The manufacturing processes are already well-established; it’s just that adjustments become more complicated when the raw materials change. As for the rest, preparing monthly reports is the main task. In terms of equipment maintenance, although the level of equipment manufacturing has improved significantly over time, one still has to deal with many tasks on site every day – routine repairs and fixing any leaks or issues with the equipment. Of course, if one has high skill levels, then perhaps no job would be too demanding, haha (personal opinion)

When we carry out emergency repairs, both the process aspects and the equipment need to be dealt with simultaneously; once the repairs are completed, when the equipment starts operating again, it goes into standby mode, while those in charge of the process still have to monitor operations from the control room! When parking as well, the process is carried out first; the equipment only starts operating after the replacement is successful. In any case, the processes and equipment involved in the maintenance phase are included, while for the preceding and subsequent phases only the processes are included. However, when it comes to discussing the distribution of bonuses, it’s better to maintain harmony; it’s not easy at all, and only by working together can production remain stable.
