What is a good absorbent for NO exhaust gases?
If it is purely NO, it can be absorbed using ferrous sulfate

I’m not sure if steam can be used to absorb NO. NO is insoluble in water, but it oxidizes easily at high temperatures. Therefore, for high-temperature steam design, NO is first oxidized to NO2, and then NO2 dissolves in water for absorption. However, it forms dilute nitric acid when dissolved in water, which seems to make subsequent treatment more difficult. The above are my personal opinions. --
Reply to 3# FILTRATION-MAN: If things are done according to your method, it’s still a bit difficult. NO2 needs to be combined with NO in a certain ratio in order to be completely absorbed; the amount of each gas is crucial. If there is a large amount of NO, using water alone isn’t sufficient for absorption. It’s best to use an alkaline solution along with hydrogen peroxide or potassium permanganate, as this can enhance the oxidation and absorption of NO. This view differs slightly from the moderator’s opinion. I’ve done some research on the absorption of nitrogen oxides, but there’s not much available information on this topic. Low temperatures and high pressures help increase the rate of NO oxidation, which in turn facilitates the conversion of nitrogen oxides into NO2. The ferrous sulfate mentioned at the beginning undergoes NO complexation, and it can be used for absorption in the last stage; for the first two stages, alkaline solutions can be used for absorption, according to my personal opinion.
The nitric oxide exhaust is continuously supplemented with large amounts of air (which requires oxygen), and then absorbed by an alkaline solution a second time. However, there were acts of fraud.

The oxidation of NO to NO2 is an exothermic reaction; low temperatures help break the equilibrium and increase NO conversion. So how can steam be used?
