When an excess of sodium sulfide solution is added to the solution, bismuth sulfide does not dissolve in it, whereas antimony sulfide forms thiocompounds with sulfide ions and becomes soluble. It can be separated using filtration
An excess of sodium hydroxide is added to the solution, and bismuth hydroxide precipitate is obtained by filtration.
