It’s definitely possible. The inlet pressure of all vacuum pumps, especially those that are multi-stage except for the first stage, is always less than 0.1 MPa-A. If the pressure is higher than atmospheric pressure, it’s necessary to release that pressure first before attempting to create a vacuum; otherwise, the efficiency will be very low.

Sure, in our production we often encounter pumps that operate at pressures below atmospheric pressure, such as in vacuum distillation. But one thing to note is that if the pump operates at low pressure, its installation height must be reduced. We often see that pumps are installed below the tank, partly to enable automatic filling of the pump and partly to prevent cavitation. Therefore, for pumps that operate at low pressure, it is essential to pay attention to the installation height
