It should be made clear that what is important in actual production is the output volume and the circulation volume; these can be controlled by the amount of off-gas, that is, the volume sent back to the syngas compressor. System load refers to the volume of fresh gas (the flow rate at the inlet of the syngas compressor) plus the circulation volume. Control is achieved from two aspects: one is the volume handled by the coke oven gas compressor, and the other is the amount of off-gas. Currently, low-pressure synthesis catalysts are generally used for methanol synthesis, with a pressure of 5–6 MPa. If your system allows it, it’s advisable to maintain a high pressure level in order to minimize off-gas emission (depending on the carbon monoxide content in the recycled gas, if it’s very low, then some pressure release can be done to ensure that there is a sufficient amount of carbon monoxide in the recycled gas).
