For the compressor oil cleaning here, the workers accidentally added fresh 150# machine oil to the used N46 turbine oil. We use N46 used oil for cleaning; will mixing them affect its performance? Seek expert advice! Thank you!
It’s probably a piston compressor oil wash; it depends on how much 150# oil has been mixed in. A small amount has little effect, but too much will not work well, as 150# machine oil has high viscosity and results in poor cleaning efficiency. If this is discovered after the washing process has already begun, the only option is to use 46# oil to clean it again.
I wonder what the temperature is like in your area during winter? If the temperature is very low, change the oil.
There should be no problem. If too much 150# oil has been added, some 46# oil can be added to dilute it.
After all, since it’s a compressor oil wash, it’s better to replace it with N46 oil and rinse again!
Oil washing is no problem; it simply removes the impurities from within the pipes, and after the washing process, the used oil is sold as waste oil. However, due to the difference in viscosity, it may have a certain impact on the oil pump; this is just my personal opinion for reference only.
