The methanol conversion unit contains a stripping tower; what is its function and how does it work?
I’m not sure if our stripping tower is the same as the one you mentioned. In our case, the stripping tower utilizes distillation wastewater and medium-pressure steam generated internally to facilitate mass and heat transfer within the tower; the steam at the top of the tower is sent to the low-pressure steam network, while the liquid at the bottom of the tower is sent to the condensate network. However, our stripping tower has never been operated yet
In the methanol production from coke oven gas, the stripping tower in the conversion section is used to remove ammonia, carbon dioxide, and high-boiling-point alcohols. If this tower is not operated for an extended period, it has a significant impact on the plant’s water system; therefore, it should be put into use. The stripping tower of the third methanol plant here should also be put into operation as soon as possible.

What was said upstairs is correct; however, as far as I know, the stripping towers in the vast majority of methanol plants have hardly been used at all. We tested it while driving; the operations were frequent, and the liquid level couldn’t be controlled at all.
Reply to 8# lion611: It’s difficult to control the vehicle while driving because it’s hard to regulate the system pressure. The balance wasn’t well managed. It will be easier if it is put into use once normal production resumes.
