In Texaco’s coal-to-methanol process, where does the ammonia-containing gas from the shift condensate stripping tower go? What are the advantages and disadvantages of each?
It is generally sent to the sulfur recovery and ammonia burning process.
So what should the temperature be for sulfur recovery? How can ammonia combustion be ensured?
Some go to the boiler, while others are stripped directly in the stripping tower.
The original design was for sulfur recovery, but since it wasn’t put into operation, the sulfur went to the flare. Later, an ammonium sulfate system was added.
Reply to 3# xb123: The acidic gas combustion furnace needs to be at a temperature of over 1250 degrees in order to ensure complete decomposition of ammonia into nitrogen; otherwise, nitrogen oxides will be generated, contaminating the environment.
The transformed stripping gas is sent to sulfur recovery for treatment, but it is necessary to ensure that the temperature in the acidic gas combustion furnace remains above 1250 degrees.
But ordinary furnaces cannot reach this temperature. But I think the temperature should be that high near the flame or at its center. It should burn. I encountered the same problem before; everyone said it couldn’t be burned. The final decision was to vent it at a higher point. When asked, I just said it was the steam being vented
Reply to 8# lizhaoye: To enable the acidic gas combustion furnace to reach temperatures above 1250 degrees, the following measures need to be taken: use pure oxygen instead of air as an oxidizing agent; increase the concentration of hydrogen sulfide in the acidic gas as much as possible; and use fuel gas to assist in the combustion process.
