I would like to ask my seniors: which processes in the piping field need to be reported to the supervisor for approval? Thank you.
Commencement report, materials arrival, concealed works
The supervisor is present to sign for the inspection upon the arrival of materials, the application for pipeline welding flaw detection, and the records of pipeline concealment
In the piping field, the process starts with drawing review, followed by material inspection, which includes pipeline materials, valve pressure testing, the material and standards of fittings, etc. There is also inspection of welding materials, assessment of the quality of welds, pipeline hydrotesting, and weld flaw detection
You can refer to the provisions in SH3503 – Technical Documents for the Handover of Petrochemical Construction Projects, and SH3543 – Technical Documents for the Construction Process of Petrochemical Construction Projects, as well as the engineering supervision standards; the tables in these documents list the construction processes that need to be reported to the supervisor.
In the construction organization plan, the quality control points classified as Grade A require the presence of both the supervisor and the client; Grade B requires only the supervisor’s presence; Grade C involves self-inspection records and process records. The requirements vary depending on various standards and project specifications. SH3503 lacks certain elements in some aspects and these need to be supplemented. However, at least the following items must be reported to the supervisor: 1. Construction organization plan; 2. Qualifications (of personnel and companies); 3. Machinery used on site; 4. Construction plans and measures; 5. Reporting on concealed work processes (such as trench excavation and backfilling, pipeline rust removal and anti-corrosion treatment); 6. Materials; 7. Pressure testing; 8. Welding inspections; 9. Heat treatment; 10. Flushing and purging; 11. Inspection of pipeline alignment
