Does anyone use an automatic range finder? Recently, there have been frequent samples to be analyzed, and the existing distillation procedure wasn’t very effective, so I wrote a new program. I found that the time it takes to reach the initial boiling point is not consistent on average. I would like to ask everyone: what are the principles behind setting the heating temperature for the first stage and the second stage when programming? I suspect there might be an issue with my approach, and I hope everyone can help me figure it out.

An automatic titrator is a good option when we are already familiar with the conditions of the sample oil and know its properties; it’s not suitable when nothing is known about an unknown sample sent for testing, in which case manual operation is better, as using the automatic mode can lead to problems
Our laboratory does not have a manual distillation apparatus; the senior management at the head office has stated that full automation should be achieved in order to reduce the preparation work for analyses. I usually set the heating temperature roughly first; after performing one cycle, I can determine the temperature for the second stage of heating by checking the flow rate. Based on the time it takes for the substance to emerge at the initial boiling point, I then determine the temperature for the first stage of heating in accordance with the standard requirements
Agree with the person above! The samples are different, and the heating temperature settings are also different.
