The material of a pipe can generally be determined by its appearance: carbon steel, stainless steel, titanium pipes, nickel pipes, PVC, galvanized pipes
There are several scenarios: 1. If there is a process flow diagram, the pipe grade table can be consulted using the pipe number information to determine the material of the pipe. 2. If there is a single-line diagram, it usually lists in detail the material information of the pipeline fittings. 3. If none of the above information is available, it’s best to first find out what the medium inside the pipeline is, as well as its temperature and pressure levels. After that, consult the pipeline grade table. Although it’s not possible to determine with absolute certainty what material the original pipeline was made of, the error will be minimal ； Furthermore, it is important to note that many process media have different requirements for pipeline construction.
Rapid judgment relies on visual assessment, and a great deal of practical experience is required to achieve higher accuracy.
Looking with the eye is based on experience; for accuracy, a metal analyzer is needed for measurement.
