Introduction to the university: East China University of Science and Technology is located in Shanghai, at the forefront of China’s economic development. It is a key university under the direct supervision of the Ministry of Education, and it is part of the **“211 Project” and the “985 Innovation Platform” initiatives. The Business School (formerly the School of Industrial and Economic Studies) was established in 1990 as an important part of East China University of Science and Technology’s transformation into a comprehensive university, building on the Department of Management Science and Engineering founded in 1981 and the Institute of Economic Development established in 1987. The college integrates economic and management disciplines, and is committed to interdisciplinary integration and coordinated development. Currently, there are 5 departments, 6 research institutes, and 3 research centers. The college has a Center for Professional Degree Education, which offers programs such as MBA, EMBA, and Master of Engineering degrees. It also has a Senior Management Training Center that provides EDP education programs. The college boasts a faculty with profound academic expertise and extensive teaching experience. There are currently 125 full-time teachers, of whom nearly 70% hold senior or associate professor titles. Over 65% of the teachers hold doctoral degrees from renowned universities at home and abroad. The college has also hired dozens of well-known professors and experts from home and abroad as honorary professors, guest professors, or part-time professors. II. Training Objectives and Directions: The purpose of master’s degree programs in project management is to cultivate advanced, applied engineering management professionals who are capable of handling the entire life cycle of projects, including decision-making, planning, implementation, and evaluation. This field encompasses industry projects and related service projects in areas such as construction engineering, information engineering, manufacturing engineering, agricultural engineering, and defense engineering. The training of master’s degree candidates in project management at East China University of Science and Technology adheres to the requirements for cultivating high-level, engineering-oriented, application-focused, and interdisciplinary professionals, with an emphasis on specialized training in areas such as project cost and time control, project contract procurement and risk management, project financial management, and project quality management. In the teaching process, emphasis is placed on combining theoretical instruction with case studies. In the design of the courses, the actual needs of enterprises and institutions are fully taken into account. Through training in this field, one can be competent in project management across various industries, and can become a project manager, project evaluator, consulting expert, etc. III. Application Requirements: A bachelor’s degree or higher. IV. Course Outline: Professional English, Operations Research, Statistics, Management, Engineering Economics, Introduction to Project Management, Project Planning and Control, Project Risk Management, Project Quality Management, Project Budgeting and Cost Management, Project Contracts and Procurement Management. V. Issuance of certificates: Those who complete the required courses of the graduate program will be issued a completion certificate upon approval by the Graduate School of East China University of Science and Technology. Students who meet the application requirements (requirements for taking the exam: having held a bachelor’s degree for at least three years or having graduated from undergraduate studies for at least four years) can enroll in the entrance examination for Master of Engineering degrees held each October while attending graduate courses in project management. The credits earned can be retained for 5 years, and they are eligible to obtain a Master of Engineering degree in project management. Upon passing the exam, they can transfer to the regular Master of Engineering in project management program; the credits earned from the graduate courses are transferred as well, with any difference in tuition fees to be paid accordingly. They are also exempt from the written test when applying for the corresponding IPMP certification.
