In recent years, I have been working with OTS, which refers to dynamic simulation in the chemical industry. Since I don’t have a formal background in this field, I am not familiar with the various software tools available for such purposes. I would like to use this platform to allow everyone to share information about the dynamic simulation platforms they are aware of or have used, so that we can exchange ideas among ourselves. I use Omegaland’s Visual Modeler, which belongs to YOKOGAWA. In 1993, YOKOGAWA and Mitsui Chemicals developed this system, which was initially called “PLANTTUTOR”; it was renamed “Omegaland” in 1997. It includes a range of application software, with the most commonly used ones being: EXEC: a centralized control platform; VM: Visual Modeler, a dynamic calculation platform; PHY: a property database containing information on more than 2,000 substances; Graphic: YOKOGAWA’s graphical interface software; PCS: DCS interface software…… Evaluation: The model library is quite extensive, and it’s easy to use; it includes various controllers as well as open-based computing and programming functions ; Supports customers in creating custom functional modules based on the C++ language ; The accuracy of the model depends on the engineer’s experience; common processes can achieve high precision, such as the flashing and distillation of common hydrocarbons ; I hope that colleagues can share information about their respective platforms so that we can get to know each other.

At present, the best option is still Honeywell’s UniSim Design
I don’t get many opportunities to work with Unisim Design; I need to study it more carefully in the future*
Hello everyone, I have just received an offer to work as a dynamic simulation engineer at Invensys, and I will be dealing with dynamic simulation from now on. Mainly the Invensys sim_sci esscor series software is used: steady state: pro2, dynamic: dynsim. I’d like to ask the senior colleagues here: what are the prospects for working in dynamic simulation? Will it be difficult? I majored in chemical engineering, and in the past I was only exposed to software for steady-state situations.
