Hello everyone, I am a junior college student from Hohhot, Inner Mongolia. What is the difference between applying for a degree in Chemical Engineering and applying to become an assistant engineer? Since I’m only a junior college graduate, if I try to apply to become a registered chemical engineer right away, it will take a long time to acquire the necessary foundation before I can take the professional exams. Is it easier to pass the exams for an assistant engineer? But is that certificate good?
Those who meet the requirements of Article 10 of the Interim Provisions on the Professional Qualification System for Registered Chemical Engineers and satisfy one of the following conditions may apply to take the basic examination: (1) Having obtained a bachelor’s degree or higher in this field (referring to chemical engineering and technology, polymer materials and engineering, inorganic non-metallic materials engineering, pharmaceutical engineering, light chemical engineering, food science and engineering, bioengineering, etc.; see Appendix 1 for details) or a related field (process equipment and control engineering, environmental engineering, safety engineering, etc.; see Appendix 1 for details). (II) Hold an associate degree in this major or a related field, with at least 1 year of experience in chemical engineering design work. (III) Hold a bachelor’s degree or higher in another engineering field, with at least 1 year of cumulative experience in chemical engineering design work. Certified chemical engineers are **certified**, while assistants can be evaluated at various levels; in any case, certified chemical engineers are far more competent.
Reply to 2# leo1936: So, if I apply to become a registered chemical engineer at Company A and pass the basic examination, and then switch to Company B after two years, how can I proceed to take the professional examination after meeting the required time period?
That time period seems to have nothing to do with whether you change jobs or not; it’s only required that you have a certain number of years of work experience, as long as you can provide proof of your cumulative working experience
