Hello everyone; as we all know, the wastewater from circulating water systems is usually discharged outside the plant as clean wastewater. Now the company’s management is considering environmental protection issues and hopes to discharge the recycled water after biochemical treatment. I’m not sure if it’s feasible Because the chloride content in the circulating water was analyzed, it is approximately 200 mg/l. I wonder what the experts think about this? The discharge of circulating water is mainly due to excessive phosphorus levels in the water; all other parameters allow for direct discharge. Discharging water after it has been treated is of course good, as this helps to reduce eutrophication in water bodies.

For circulating water systems, COD levels usually do not exceed the specified limits. Regarding phosphorus, I personally don’t think there should be too many problems; even if the phosphorus level is too high, it’s not necessary to use wastewater treatment to reduce it.
It’s not just the chloride ions; what you’re actually concerned about is the overall salt content. For circulating wastewater, measure the salt content; also check the salt level in your existing biochemical system. If the former is higher than the latter, there’s no problem; if it is higher, you should consult your wastewater design specialist. Don’t worry; I’ve seen many facilities recycle wastewater and send it to the biological treatment system.
It’s possible to enter, but it’s not necessary. The quality of the wastewater from the circulating water system is still very good, exceeding the **discharge standards; therefore, treating it again through wastewater treatment would be a waste of energy.
