In the past two days, the temperature of the casing of an external shielded pump equipped with cooling balance tubes at our workplace has been fluctuating frequently. The medium used is an alkaline solution at a temperature of over 40 degrees. I asked the mechanic, who said it wasn’t a mechanical issue with the pump but rather a problem related to vacuum conditions; however, the flow rate at the pump’s outlet is normal. I’m not sure if it really is a vacuum issue
Changes in the temperature of the material medium cause changes in the temperature of the pump body!
The temperature of the casing of a shielded pump is related not only to the temperature of the medium, but also to various factors such as the current flowing through the pump’s motor, the quality of the pump’s bearings, and the degree of concentricity between the motor and the pump. Therefore, it is necessary to investigate each of these factors based on the actual situation.
First, check whether there are any changes in the medium’s temperature, pressure, flow rate, and other operating conditions. Next, examine the temperature of the pump’s motor to determine if there is air trapped inside the pump and to identify any other faults in the pump.
Check the cooling water for the pump body; if the flow rate is normal and the temperature doesn’t exceed the limit, then there’s no major issue
Check the bearing monitor (TRG) of the canned pump to see if it is in the green zone.
