The packing seal of the boiler feed water pump is constantly leaking. The pump’s capacity is 16 M3/h, its head is 610 M, and the temperature of the boiler feed water is around 115 degrees. I would like to ask experts what type of packing and what material for the shaft sleeve would be suitable in this case. Thank you
It’s not right if the packing seal leaks; the packing is either made of graphite or carbon fiber – no special materials are required. If leakage is a concern, one can simply switch to a mechanical seal.

If replacement isn’t possible, choosing the right type of packing can also prevent leaks. One of our desalination water pumps also had problems with its mechanical seal; we tried various types of packing before finally finding the right one. Now we use packing for sealing, and it works very well – the packing can last for at least 3 months before needing to be replaced.
