The current mainstream liquefaction process is the mixed refrigeration process, with some using foreign process packages and others domestic ones. For example, there is BV’s PRICO process, as well as Saelof’s process package. There are many companies that can act as general contractors: Contess, Donghua Engineering Design Institute, Sichuan Aerospace, Chengdu Cryogenic, Harbin Cryogenic, Hangzhou Fosda, Zhongtai, and so on! Of course, several companies that have developed relatively good purification process packages are located in Sichuan, such as Chengdu Wuhuan, etc.

There are already proprietary process packages available in the country, so there’s nothing strange about that! The purification processes are being used successfully in many large gas fields across the country; technologies of the scale seen in LNG plants are particularly mature. As for the liquefaction process, many air separation projects in China present far greater challenges than those related to LNG. Moreover, with foreign process packages and engineering experience available for learning from, isn’t the process package any longer a difficult issue? In fact, the most critical components of the liquefaction process are the refrigerant compressor and the cryogenic tank; in particular, the distribution of two-phase flow within the cryogenic tank as well as the design of its flow channels are crucial. Those who are capable of designing cryogenic tanks are generally able to handle LNG projects as well.

It seems that there is still a lot of activity in the natural gas sector these days; in terms of strength, the factories in Sichuan are the most capable.
Abroad, there is the French company Decynib; in China, companies such as Chuan Kong, Kai Kong, and Hang Yang are all very good. The technical difficulty is not high.
