Has anyone used wireless meters? In what operating conditions is it used? How is it working? The wireless transmitters here can be Wireless Hart/Wireless 4~20mA.... and so on
For most occasions, there’s no doubt about it! In fact, a power cable still needs to be connected, and many relay devices have to be used as well; I really hate that!
Currently, data points are basically sent to the receiving point via GPRS or digital radio
It is mainly used in irrigation areas, or in those remote locations with torch lights, or in certain rotating devices; it doesn’t require a power cable as it has its own battery
Our company has used it, but the results weren’t very good; the signal is greatly affected by distance and large buildings, often resulting in no readings being obtained. Moreover, the batteries don’t last long, and the price is quite high. The distance is a bit far, so repeaters are needed. Current wireless products are not yet very mature, but I think these types of products have potential for development, especially in areas where it is difficult to lay cables.
I saw an application that uses temperature sensors for use in ethylene transport pipelines, and it still has advantages when applied to long-distance pipelines. Thank you for your participation!

The steam required by this factory has to be purchased from other companies. The secondary meter of the vortex flow meter installed on the factory’s steam main features wireless communication capabilities, which are used for settling transactions between the two parties. This communication is transmitted wirelessly to another company located several kilometers away, and it has proven to be reliable in practice. When I was in school, the area fell under the jurisdiction of the Shengli Oil Field; it was said that all the pumping units scattered across the fields communicated via wireless instruments. However, in recent years I’ve heard from some friends that wireless communication is no longer widely used in oil fields there, as fiber optic communication has been adopted instead.
You should use GPRS for communication; oil fields have no budget constraints, so they use wireless and fiber optic connections
Wireless meters make it easier to conduct inspections in areas where the meters are located in difficult-to-reach places, but they are prone to interference from surrounding signals and lack stability; therefore, they are not recommended for use in critical locations.
